It isn't just steam trains that need water - the carriages have to have water for the sinks and toilets as well. The West Coast Railways stock which made up the Green Express Railtours' Cumbrian Coast special charter on Easter Monday had been away from its Carnforth depot for an extended period - things were getting desperate! Me and our Laura met them at Sellafield Station with a road tanker full of water and pumped about 8000 litres into the header tanks. Problem solved.
